PARENTTIME PROVIDES POWERFUL NEW ON-LINE SERVICE FOR PARENTS

Service Offers Personalized Information at Your Fingertips
http://www.parenttime.com

NEW YORK, Oct. 29, 1996 -- ParentTime[TM], a new on-line service offering parents comprehensive and personalized parenting information, was launched today on the World Wide Web. This new service was created through an agreement between Time Warner Cable Programming and Procter & Gamble Productions, Inc. Time Warner will produce all content and manage programming. Procter & Gamble is investing in the service and has made a multiyear advertising commitment. ParentTime is available at http://www.parenttime.com and may be accessed through Time Warner's Pathfinder. The service also will be launched on Road Runner, Time Warner's new high-speed on-line cable service.

Deepest and Broadest Parenting Content Personalized For The User

"ParentTime uses the latest technology to bring personalized information to parents' fingertips," said Thayer Bigelow, president and chief executive officer of Time Warner Cable Programming. "It adapts its content to the specific needs of the user -- a real, value-added benefit. For example, by telling us whether they are a parent, expectant parent, grandparent, or single parent, and the age of the child, ParentTime will personalize the entire service based on the user's specific situation."

ParentTime offers users constantly growing and fresh editorial material providing a depth of information on child development, health and medical information, entertainment and activities, relationships, family finance, news and events.

ParentTime builds on a wealth of editorial product from Time Warner including Parenting, Time-Life Books, Time Warner Electronic Publishing, Little, Brown and Company, Sports Illustrated for Kids Sports Parents, Baby Talk, Time for Kids and the Time Inc. Picture Collection. It also offers content from Dr. Penelope Leach's popular video series, "Your Baby and Child."

ParentTime also connects parents with an extraordinary panel of the foremost authorities on childhood development and pediatrics:

Experts will answer e-mail, create original content for ParentTime, and host and participate in on-line forums and real time talk shows.

In the ParentTime community, users also can share questions, concerns or just talk with people who are going through the same experiences they are. The service is available to help families 24 hours a day and the content is designed for mothers, fathers, grandparents, stepparents and extended families -- all those who will have an impact on a child's life.

"The service will constantly be evolving, but we are very excited about what it offers parents now," said Bigelow. While information will be available for expectant parents to parents of 18-years-olds, the richest and deepest information at launch will be content for parents of newborn children to two-year-olds.

If a parent registers in the ParentTime community when her child is four months old for example, ParentTime will know when the child is one year old, four years old, and ten years old, and will deliver information based on a child's and parent's changing needs. Parents don't need to register to get information from ParentTime, but if they choose to register by answering a few simple questions, the information they receive will be tailored to their specific needs and interests. If a parent tells ParentTime that she has a child interested in outdoor sports teams, ParentTime will tailor the information that parent receives with this in mind.

ParentTime: A New Standard in Digital Advertising

ParentTime offers advertisers a multifaceted marketing program that is designed to be as creative as the editorial product. ParentTime will offer an advertising program called Relevant Advertising Delivery, which goes beyond traditional buttons and banners to include new creative units within the service called RAD units. RADs will ensure advertisers can deliver meaningful brand sell messages right there within the service.

While the full sales effort is just beginning, initial advertisers include Pampers, Tide, Cover Girl, Vidal Sassoon, AT&T, First USA Bank, Toys R' Us, Bank of America and Merrill Lynch.

"We believe new media are and will be important sources of news, information and entertainment. We are delighted to be a part of an advertiser-supported service that can make such a difference in the day-to-day lives of parents and families," said Robert L. Wehling, senior vice president, Procter & Gamble. "This service is an excellent opportunity to communicate with consumers about our brands, and that's why we signed a multiyear agreement to advertise on ParentTime," he added.

ParentTime will launch with strong marketing support including a print media campaign in highly read Time Warner publications such as People and Parenting. ParentTime will be a featured channel on Pathfinder and will be marketed through Road Runner, Time Warner's new high-speed on-line cable service. ParentTime also will be promoted via an on-line advertising campaign and through traditional marketing channels such as Procter & Gamble's multibrand hospital sampling program that is targeted to new parents.

ParentTime is made available through ParentTime, a limited liability company formed by Time Warner Cable Programming and Procter & Gamble Productions, Inc.
