Tumble Wins Best of Show in Astrid 2000 Awards Competition

Makes History with Competition's First Perfect Score!

New York, NY, June 1, 2000 -- Tumble Interactive Media today announced that it has won the Best of Show Award in the 10th Annual ASTRID AWARDS competition for a CD-ROM Press Kit it created to help market ABC Television's "The Century" mini-series. For the first time in the ASTRID 10-year history, the judges gave Tumble's entry a perfect 100 score.

This is the second time that Tumble has won the Astrid Award's top honor, receiving "Best of Show" in 1998 for the Web site it created for ABC's late-night offering "Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher." Cal Vornberger, Tumble's President and Creative Director said, "We have a long history of creating award-winning projects for ABC Television. I don't believe there is a Web site or CD-ROM that we have created for ABC that hasn't won an award. It helps to have a great client like ABC. It's also very gratifying to receive such recognition from one's peers."

The awards, given by the International Academy of Communications Arts and Sciences, are presented in recognition of "excellence and innovation in communications design." Judging was carried out by leading designers, art directors, and graphic artists from across the United States, Canada, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.

This year's competition included over 340 entries from 13 nations. Submissions were judged in more than a dozen categories (including annual reports, brochures, corporate identity, graphic design, CD-ROM, etc.) and awards were given at the Finalist, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Best of Category, and Best of Show levels. Other category winners include agency.com, Ketchum, McMurray Publishing, and Broom & Broom.

In addition to Best of Show, Tumble's submission won the Gold and Best of Category in the CD-ROM category. The CD-ROM was produced to promote ABC TV's landmark mini-series "The Century" and to promote other "The Century" projects including the best-selling book by Peter Jennings and a History Channel series. It also included an audio CD of selections of original music from the popular mini-series' score.

Reni L. Witt, president of MerComm, Inc., which sponsors the competition, said, "The winners can be very proud. Their work symbolizes the stellar qualities of creativity, craft, innovation and originality in design. They are the best in the world."
