New York, NY, August12, 1998 Tumble Interactive Media announced today that it has completed work on a Web site for Romantic Times Magazine (www.romantictimes.com) The site contains book reviews from the last three years of the magazine, as well as author bios, a reader's and writer's areas, and a special "Cover Model" section with up-to-date information on the latest hunks. Users can purchase any of the books reviewed on the site, through a connection to barnesandnoble.com (www.barnesandnoble.com,) who funded the site's development.
Cal Vornberger, President of Tumble, oversaw the design and development of the Web site. "Since romance novels account for over 50% of all the paperbacks sold in this country, Romantic Times found a perfect partner in Barnes & Noble," commented Vornberger. "Our challenge was to create a site that would be visited by large numbers of first-time users."
To facilitate multiple purchases via the barnesandnoble shopping cart, Tumble created a book list function that allows visitors to select multiple titles before proceeding to the barnesandnoble site to make their purchases. This is an important feature of the site, as research indicates that the typical romance novel purchaser makes multiple purchases, often on impulse.
In addition to the over 3,500 book reviews on the site, there are author profiles and a searchable database of author pseudonyms (romance writers typically use multiple pseudonyms.) To be added in the near future are a threaded discussions area and other special features.
